A post-doctoral appointment is open in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University in the lab of Drs. M. van de Rijn and West to study the mechanisms of neoplasia in sarcomas.

Specifically, we are interested in identifying the critical gene pathways and cellular functions that could be targeted in the development of novel clinical therapies. We use a combination of high throughput sequencing, gene profiling, and molecular imaging technologies to better understand these tumors.

A successful applicant will have prior experience in gene expression profiling or cancer genomics and background in pathology, molecular biology and/or regulation of gene expression. A demonstrated publication record in these or related areas is essential along with excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently and together on a team.

CONSULTANT MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST IN SARCOMA

this is a new full time position working in the Cancer Division of the University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding sarcoma service to support a team of clinical, medical and paediatric oncologists committed to the delivery of world class sarcoma services. The postholder will assist in the delivery of inpatient and outpatient care both at UCLH and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Additionally, the post provides the opportunity to help deliver the research objectives of the service. Experience in the management of all types of sarcoma is essential.

Cancer is a vital focus of UCLH’s status as a Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre and as part of its recent successful designation as an Academic Health Sciences Centre. Development of services and research for sarcoma is an important element of the Trust’s cancer strategy with support for the partnership in the delivery of services with RNOH.
There is a strong relationship with the biomedical science campus of UCL, recently ranked 4th  in the Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings
