Senior Post-Doctoral Fellow Peter MaCallum Cancer Centre (Ref. No.) The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre houses Australia’s largest cancer research program, with over 450 scientists, students, clinician-researchers and support staff. The Sarcoma Genomics & Genetics programme is specifically focused on understanding the biology and genetics of the liposarcoma and osteosarcoma tumours, for subsequent translation into innovative clinical trials that will help improve patient outcomes. Furthermore the programme has a strong interest in the broader area of young adult onset cancer, including public health policy and cancer epidemiology. The research programme is founded on the Australian Sarcoma Study Group (ASSG), which acts as a conduit for early phase clinical trails that arises from basic discoveries. We seek a highly motivated individual with a strong academic track record and extensive background in cancer biology. The applicant will have experience in leading a research group and working collaboratively with researchers and technical specialists to solve important biological questions through the application of molecular biology, bioinformatics and genomics. In this position you will be expected to undertake research both individually and jointly with colleagues, supervise and support research staff and doctoral candidates. You will also be active in seeking research funding from government and other agencies and you will contribute to the programmes qualitative and quantitative research capacity both nationally and internationally by publishing of high quality scientific research papers. You must have excellent organisational and communication skills, attention for detail, and the ability to carry out work efficiently and independently. Nationally Ranked Cancer Program Seeks Sarcoma Clinical Research Physician To foster further development of solid tumor oncology, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute has created an independent Division of Medical Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine. This new division, currently with 24 faculty, is seeking clinical and translational researchers specializing in sarcoma. Candidates for this position will demonstrate a strong background in clinical trials enrollment, a focus on aggressively treating sarcoma, a team orientation and a background in basic research that will facilitate translational research. This position joins a well rounded team of specialists with a connection to basic scientists throughout the university. This well functioning team that includes pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists and orthopedic oncologists, meets regularly to discuss patient care and research interests. The successful candidate will participate actively with this group. A post-doctoral appointment is open in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University in the lab of Drs. M. van de Rijn and West to study the mechanisms of neoplasia in sarcomas. Specifically, we are interested in identifying the critical gene pathways and cellular functions that could be targeted in the development of novel clinical therapies. We use a combination of high throughput sequencing, gene profiling, and molecular imaging technologies to better understand these tumors. A successful applicant will have prior experience in gene expression profiling or cancer genomics and background in pathology, molecular biology and/or regulation of gene expression. A demonstrated publication record in these or related areas is essential along with excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently and together on a team.
